'Ello people! I just thought I should post something on this site about Harry Potter. I really do want to know which book is a favorite too. Also, who else has read the 7th? I waited up 'til midnight and was one of the first people in line. I started reading by the light of street lamps on the to my car... It took me a total of 9 hours and 40 minutes to read it.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS MAY COME FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ ALL OF THE BOOKS! YOU ARE WARNED!

I read the seventh...It sucked cause I usually read those things in a day, but I was on my way to DC right after I bought it. But, if you count the total time I actually had to read it, I finished in like a day. So yeah.
But wow! I cried, though not as much as I did in the fifth. Snape = <3

Oh yea, I did find the 5th one a bit more emotional. In the 7th one it was all so sudden... Snape? I was a tad disappointed we didn't get to see more of him during the story... I mean, it was nice though to learn his back-story I just wanted a bit more of him. The deaths I took the hardest though were Lupin and Tonks'. I mean, they just got married and had a baby, and she(JK) kills them off? I REALLY liked Lupin too!

Ah yes- thank you
I know several people who expected Hedwig to come back. I stared at them in shock and explained slowly that, not only did she get hit with Avada Kerdava, the side-cart she was in BLEW UP! I mean BOOM How could they expect her to come back after that? It doesn't make sense I say...
I didn't cry when Moody died, but I was sad that he was gone. I think if it had been farther into the book I would have been a bit more emotional. The fact Umbridge had his eye though... GRRR EBIL ^$%#&!

I always hated Umbridge.
But yeah, I always had this sneaking suspicion that Snape wasn't bad. And it was so sweet that he loved Lily so much... Poor guy, he shouldn't have died. And I about cried again when I saw "Albus Severus". Hedwig was hard, but I was afraid Hagrid would die.
Lupin and Tonks, though...yeah. And Fred! That was horrible. But when Mrs. Weasley was like, "Get away from my daughter, you pregnant dog!" I was so happy, because Bellatrix killed her cousin Sirius, my favorite character, so I've been waiting for that psychotic pregnant dog to die for two books now.
Heh.

particular curse word to describe Bellatrix 83 Or maybe that was just me. ... D: Did anyone else wish for like, Fred to be all "dead" for a few seconds and then jump up and turn to George and be all "HAHAHA THE DEATH BY CHOCOLATE ACTUALLY WORKS, GEORGE!" D; I really, really was hoping for that to happen. [/ul]

Oh yes, I absolutely loved Molly fighting Bellatrix! I laughed whne she's jumped at her all 'GET AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER YOU %$#*^!" It was awesome. Never mess with a mother. Especially a distraught one hwoe you've wronged before.
I thought Hagrid actually died in the beginning, when he fell off of the bike, but apparently he somehow survived... Giant blood I suppose. When George lost an ear, that was rather traumatic too. It was rather sudden when Fred died though, but at least he died with a smile on his face and not bent over in pain by the Cruciatis curse....
I don't think anyone here actually likes Umbridge, so you aren't alone.

Death by chocolate... xDD I didn't even think of that at the time, but it would've been awesome if that had happened - Fred and George = <33
I thought Luna and Neville were totally awesome in the seventh book - Neville especially really came into his own ;3 Aberforth was cool, too, and I loved the Snape backstory: SnapexLily was awesome. <3

I'm re-reading the fifth book, and Petunia mentions 'her and that awful boy' Harry assumes it's his father, but I'm sure it's actually Snape. (this happens right after the dementor attack, so if you want to read it yourself you know where to look)
Makes you wonder if she ever realized that he was in love with her. I think at one point or another she would have, but obviously the conversation never came up between them.
Death by chocolate... I think George would be crying a bit (in the sad sense) as he laughed at that. Though always very funny, I think the twins would be a bit more on edge after all of this, you know?

I liked the series up until about the fifth book. The ending of said book just ticked me off... Did I still read the sixth and seventh books? You bet your butt I did. Did I enjoy them? Not really, no. Death and destruction is good and all, but not to the characters I liked. I was kicking the wall for almost every death after Cedrics (I didn't care for him so much...) Cept all the death eaters that died. Screw them, I was doing the Happy Bouncing Idiot Dance every time one of them died or was wounded in any way. I'm spiteful like that ;D

XD I jumped on the HP 7th Book Bandwagon waaay too late. I got it three days ago and finished it two days ago. I have... mixed feelings about it.
Some of the deaths I just didn't think were necessary. I think Rowling could have handled them a lot better, but it almost seemed as if she was feeling pressured and going, "Well crap, I gotta kill some people off in this book... Eenie, meenie, miny moe..." Fred's death really got to me. I don't think his death was called for at all. If you're gonna kill a loved character -- for the love of God, please be building up to it throughout at least some part of the book. Don't just kill him off with no warning whatsoever. I burst into tears at his death. Remus and Tonks' death was upsetting too, and they left an infant son and all... I was kind of pissed at Tonks -- actually, I've been pissed at her since the 6th book. She was awesome in the 5th book, but then she pulled a Padme Amidala and got weepy and lethargic. ~_____~ And I'm sorry, but leaving your child and all... I dunno -- it would be a difficult choice, but a mother's ultimate decision should always be for the good of her child, and running off after your husband to certain death is not in your child's best interests. *Peeved*
Neville rocked the socks in this book. He was awesome. I loved how much he'd grown up since the first book and all -- it made me go all, "Awwwwee!!" Frank and Alice would be proud. <3
I have always hated Ginny ever since she got all, "LULZ *CONFIDENT*" in the 5th book. I liked her much better when she was timid and kind of unsure. I didn't like how she was always parading about in all her popularity and beauty and stuff and how all the Gryffindor boys - and then some! - were falling at her feet. ~____~ It was just kind of unrealistic and I wasn't a fan of the HarryxGinny relationship. I felt that if Rowling wanted the two to ultimately get together, she could have handled their relationship better. I didn't really understand Harry's obsession with her -- Ginny's personality and such was never really explained (Ooo, except that she was feisty and rebellious!) and I didn't feel any real depth in their relationship. Hell, I felt more with Cho Chang than with Ginny. So yeah, some complaints there.
When did the change occur in Ron and Hermione's relationship? One book he's all sulky around her and letting her fend for herself, the next he can't keep his hands off her and as soon as her tear ducts threaten to overload, he's there with an arm around her. I wish that the sudden change could have been explained more... I know that throughout the entire series, their relationship was building, but... the suddenness from best friends to lovers was just confusing for me. I didn't feel any real depth -- again, Rowling seems to have trouble expressing/growing relationships.
What on earth did Lily see in James? The longer the series went on, the more I didn't understand why she had ever chosen to marry him, and now that I see Severus' love for Lily, it just seems incomprehensible as to why Lily suddenly fell for the "arrogant toerag." For the most part, I thought James was an arse and it was never explained when the change took place or what he was like after the change. Therefore, how can the readers possibly like James? For me, I saw shocking parallels between Harry and Severus and Malfoy and James, particularly in the flashback when we saw Severus and Lily on the Hogwarts Express for the first time. I wasn't expecting it to be that way at all.
Snape = Life. <33 The Redeemed Hero.
The ending kinda went... *KABOOM* XD;; I felt that it was just a wee bit too messy. It felt rushed and all over the place -- as if Rowling was beating a deadline. It also felt as if she was trying a bit too hard to justify Harry still living -- it's alright, J.K! I'm sure a good amount of us didn't want him to die either!
Voldemort = Pansy. What a wimp.
The Epilogue was nauseatingly sweet -- I threw up after I read it. XDD I didn't hate it, persay, but at the same time, I didn't love it. True, I wanted a happy ending so I'm satisfied with that, but I just wish the whole ending of HP could have been handled a bit better. Then I think the Epilogue would have been a bit more enjoyable. I also was a bit upset that we didn't get to check up on anyone else like George or the other Weasleys or the remaining Order of the Phoenix (not that there were many survivors left!)
Umm... I think that's it... Oh yeah -- I was glad that Percy came back, but so depressed that he got so little time to talk and be with Fred again after all those years of estrangement. And now his little brother's dead... Heartbreaking... =(
All in all, it really wasn't that bad. I'd say that after seventeen years of this, Rowling held her own quite well, and she really introduced something indelible to the world of literature. And she's really fueled children's imagination and dreams for so many years -- I think she deserves major kudos for that, and I thank her for all the wonderful times that I've had through Harry Potter. =) I'll never forget. <33
{SORRY FOR THE ESSAY. DD> *CRINGE*}

were we to Charlie, anyway? :I Although, concerning the entire "LET ME LEAVE MY CHILD TO FIND MY HUSBAND" was a bit... Hmm - I dunno. Perhaps Tonks was considering it -- if she stayed with Teddy, she could have been beating herself over "If I had gone - I could have saved Lupin" -- you know? xU And then Teddy would grow up with mopey sad mumsy dear rather than "YOUR MOTHER DIED A NOBLE DEATH. BE PROUDs." ... xD And yes - James - the ultimate paradox. He's such a snot, really, Lilly would have won more cool points with me if she didn't go with James and in a sick plot-twist Severus was actually Harry's father and and and -- Lilly just left Sev and went to James. ... I mean, really. She hates him and -- somehow magically along the line somewhere -- she falls MAD IN LOVES with him so much she let's him marry her and ugh. xU [/ul]

What can I say, I had a lotta complaints! XD;; D> 'Zactly, Charlie would have been a very agreeable death 'cause LULZ, nobody knew him or remotely cared about him! ;; Ho hum, maybe you're right... Teddy would've been EMO TO THE MAX if Tonks had actually stayed behind, because now that we know that Tonks goes Emo when things aren't going her way or something disagreeable happens, it would have rubbed off on her son in some way or other. XDD But still... WHO LEAVES THEIR INFANT SON TO GO OFF AND FIGHT SADISTS? o____O;; Oh right... IT'S FOR THE TRU LOVEZ. It was ENEMIES TO LOVERS of course. IN THE HEAT OF AN ARGUMENT, THEY STARTED MAKING OUT WITH ALL THEIR PASSIONS. D> Ugg, can you say Fanfic-y? Ever since the 5th book, I've been so confused on how they ever got together. I definitely would've appreciated a sick plot-twist like Sev being Harry's real dad too, but seeing as Harry looks exactly like James... D> No fair, that kinda ruined that idea. *Sigh* Severus woulda been a much more impressive dad to Harry than James, in my opinion... I don't even get it. XDD It makes absolutely no sense. It's like nice guys finish last. "LULZ, WELL I WAS A COMPLETE ARSE AND HAD LOW SELF-ESTEEM SO HAD TO BOOST MY PITIFUL STANDING BY MAKING FUN OF RANDOM PASSERSBY (PARTICULARLY THOSE I FELT THREATENED BY) BUT I STILL GOT THE GIRL IN THE END, AND NOW YOU CAN TOO." Maybe Rowling shouldn't have left us with such little info on Lily and James' relationship? It's like the readers are gonna start rooting for Snape instead... ~____~ But that's okay, 'cause Snape rocks. XD;; Anyone else kinda gag when they first saw Albus Severus? I thought that was overkill. ;; Congratulations, Harry. You're as bad as the celebrities with the interesting names. AND HAVE YOU NO ORIGINALITY WHATSOEVER? ~_____~ Rose and Hugo was a bit better -- at least Ron and Hermione thought up of names themselves...

Oh ya- the fact they didn't come up with their own names. That was really disappointing. I'm glad Rona and Hermione are original. I kinda giggled at Hugo though, the name makes me laugh. Not in the mocking sorta way (I hope) it's just, the way I think about it in my head.. Anyway, I like the name Rose, so kudos to which ever of them decided to name their child that. I think I would have to give Hermione credit.
I didn't want a happy ending. I wanted Harry to stay dead. (good riddance I say). The whole 'King's Cross' chapter though, I really liked it. "Is this real, or all in my head?" "Why, of course it's in your head Harry, but why on earth does that make it not real?"
What of the BEST lines, I'm tellin' ya. (If any of you have ever heard of a BBC series called 'Sharpes' there's a line in one episode where I man thinks he's going to die, so he hurriedly marries his fiance on the battle field, and then the priest tells him to get up: "I thought you told me I was going to die father?" and his reply reminds me of Dumbledore's line. "We're all going to die Patrick!" He says it just.. wow.. you'd have to watch it, it's hilarious...and back to HP)
Ginny was a bit of a sugar queen, wasn't she? I can't say I ever really thought about her that much. I always expected them to get together, so I never really thought about how their relationship was made and who she was.
Neville WAS really awesome. I love the fact he did grow up, his parents would be proud! It all started when you learned of his tragic past... -sniffle- GO NEVILLE! YOU ROX THE SOX
Regarding the whole Harry looks too much like James to be anyone else's son, I can find flaws in that to make you feel better. The only trait that is truly James' that Harry has is his messy hair. If Lilly had hair that was somewhat wavy or curly- Severus's BLACK hair gene could have been given to Harry, and he could have simply not been all greasy. Thus, getting messy hair from his father. All the other trais he had came from grand aprents, so whose to say not Lilly's? Or my favorite explanation: Polyjuice Potion, or a similar working spell.
Also, for ages I believed that since Draco looked SO much like his father, that Severus was actually his father. Why? Can anyone say Polyjuice Potion? When someone looks so strikeningly similar to another, I always assumed that might get involved. I mean, seriously, how does he look like a friggin' carbon copy of his papa? That, and Snape seemed to have a thing for his mother...
Did anyone cry at Hedwig? I didn't. Moody didn't make me cry either, but I think that was just because it was so sudden. I mean, I really liked him, so maybe if it had happened later in the book?
