A fern twitched slightly as a breeze flew through the undergrowth, and a small drop of moisture fell form it's tip. This happened regularly, as the plants often attracted wet conditions, and also kept the ground form drying out. However, this particular drop of dew managed to do something a bit out of the ordinary. It landed on top of an animal, rather than into the soil.
Having been sleeping, the said animal took offense to such a disturbance. Jumping up, the feline (for it was a cat) glared angrily at the slightly waving fern. As if trying to wilt the springy green plant, she continued to glare at it with her yellow eyes.
Feeling as if the plant got what it deserved, Meriti cracked a yawn and slowly stretched form her sleeping place. Despite the rather vehement staring contest she had held, dew and other water droplets often found ways onto her fur. Just, generally not when she was sleeping, or enough to wake her.
Peering up at the sky to check the time, she decided she might as well eat if she was awake. The sun was up rather high, and any other cat would probably scold themselves for sleeping so late. But time mattered little to her, and she lazily headed deeper into her fern filled land until she came across a pond.
A devious smile came onto her face as she saw fish happily leaping from the pool to catch bugs.
Life was excellent when you didn't have to share.
