The lands of the four clans - DawnClan, DuskClan, NightClan, and DayClan - are nestled within a lush temperate rainforest, comparable to a modern northwestern area like the coasts of Oregon and Washington. The trees are thick and sometimes monstrous - sequoias and redwoods - and the mountains are rugged. Elk, mule deer, bears, and the occasional wolf roam the area, along with fox, raccoons, opossums, and squirrels. Eagle and hawks fly with the sparrows and finches. The world is dangerous, to say little.
DawnClan and NightClan are located on a rocky coastline, separated by a river that winds in from the Spear Cove. At the end of the river are the Sky Falls - the gathering place for the clans at the full moons. Basalt rock formations jut up from the water right at the coast, and a wrecked ship pokes crookedly out from the center of the cove, like a spear, hence the name.
DawnClan is populated by rolling sand dunes, which can be dangerous for young cats who tend to place their feet in risky positions. The camp is located in a damp cave that was found under the dunes. There are many nooks and crannies for dens, all above the reach of the high tide, which fills the cave twice a day. The rest of DawnClan land is half thick hardwood forest and half brush trees, and there is an old vacant barn toward the north.
NightClans is primarily hardwood forest - dark and quiet with giant trees. The camp is well hidden in the roots of one enormous redwood. A long creek runs through NightCat territory, and the beach area is covered in old, warped driftwood. To the north the lands flattens at the end of the river, where Sky Falls is located. The Sliver Creek serves as a boundary between NightClan and DuskClan.
DayClan and DuskClan draw territory lines where the small hills of the north become steep toward the south, right below the Rumble Stone. All cats pass through DayClan to reach Rumble Stone, and are granted free pass.
DayClan has much brush and scrub to the north, near the fort. There is an ample meadow just off the dirt path, but is occupied almost continuously by elk. The elk are placid, but their sheer size makes them extremely dangerous. To the east there are small hills with sparse treelife. The camp is located just west of the Elk Meadow, in a thicket of brambles.
DuskClan cats are accustomed to living in the hilly region of their territory. Except for the northwestern flatlands and southwestern hardwoods, the entire land is made up of steep hills, dotted by boulders and the occasional small tree. Birds of prey are especially dangerous here. The DuskCat camp is tucked into a cluster of smaller hills toward the center of the area, where a series of dens have been dug into the sides of the hills. To the very south is the Silver Lake.
Rumble Stone is the place where StarClan can be found, and medicine cats and leaders frequent the extinct volcano. Sky Falls lies in the heart of the land; a colossal waterfall created by the ending of the river into an underground cavern. The cats meet on a large flat boulder in the center of a shimmering pool.
In the north of DayCat territory, there is a twoleg fort, surrounded by a tall brick wall. There are holes in the wall for entering and exiting cats (usually rogues, loners, or the fort kittypets.) Inside there is a pen of dogs, who stay kept up except for certain random times when they are allowed to roam some, though still inside the fort. Also, the Scrap is a building where, well, scraps from twolegs can be found.
